File Types Help:
We can accept PDF, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark files.
The best type of file to upload for publishing a book, is "PDF/X-1a" This kind of PDF will have all fonts and color profiles embedded into the PDF. These PDFs are the easiest for commercial printers to use, and generally do not incur any extra fees for processing or editing.
The best way to create a PDF/X-1a file, is to use Acrobat Distiller, that comes with Adobe Acrobat Professional.
(The Reader version does not come with Distiller)
Other ways of creating PDFs include:
Microsoft Office Applications: Office Help PDF Page
Adobe Creative Suite Applications: Adobe PDF Creation Help

Pro Tip: Make a ZIP file first that contains all of the files you plan to upload in one compressed folder.
No matter what type of file you have your book saved in, chances are that we can convert/fix-up your file into a PDF/X-1a file for publishing. We charge a low one-time fee for conversion/editing of your original document, to get it into a final PDF/X-1a format that's ready for press.
If you send us any type of PDF that's not created via Acrobat Distiller - using the PDF/X-1a settings, then we request that you also upload the original source documents, including the fonts, high-res graphics and application data files.
Setup your book as regular "straight" order. (In other words, don't try and create booklet layouts, or "signatures") Keep your book in straight order, (1,2,3,4,5,6)
Our publishing systems will re-arrange the pages automatically, depending on the type of book we will print and the type of press we decide to print it on.
As part of our proof/approval process, we will send you a "Proof" PDF.
